In April, MarqVision announced a major update to its AI-powered brand impersonation solution.

It detects and analyzes fake domains, fake ads and impersonating web content within hours. For the first time, many brands saw how often, and in how many ways, their brand was being abused.

But day-to-day use exposed another limit. Threats were found, but not acted on right away.

Why you had to wait after finding a fake

Brand impersonation doesn’t wait. Fake ads keep running and customers keep landing on fake sites. Meanwhile, the brand is still checking internally: is it really impersonation, which platform should it be reported to, who needs to review and approve it?

For brands, these steps are necessary. But impersonators don’t wait for them. That’s why, even after detection, response could take hours or even days.

What mattered wasn’t just how fast you find threats. It was how fast you act on them.

Now you can act on brand impersonation the moment you find it

With this update, MarqVision introduces Smart Rules and Activity Log. Smart Rules speed up your response, and Activity Log records every step of it transparently.

Every brand responds by its own rules. Some want to act immediately on a high-risk fake site. Some want to prioritize certain types of threats. Some want repeat cases handled automatically. Now you can set those rules yourself.

Smart Rules: repeat impersonation handled automatically

Smart Rules automate enforcement based on conditions your brand sets. For example: enforce automatically on threats with a risk score of 8 or higher, add inactive or parked domains to a watchlist, or handle specific recurring threat types automatically.

Your brand sets every criterion. The rules run automatically, but your team stays in control. You can change rules or review specific cases yourself at any time.

During the beta, real customer operating data showed that the slowest step in the response was review by the team. Checking and approving threats took longer than finding them. With Smart Rules in place, that step now finishes in under an hour on average. It’s the difference between finding a phishing ad in the morning and blocking it the same day, or leaving it up for a week.

“MarqVision’s advanced AI-powered detection and takedown services have been crucial in identifying and removing threats across our key digital channels — consistently and at scale.”
— Joe Zorovich, VP Operations, AS Beauty Group

The results in numbers

These results are based on real operating data from the domain, phishing ad and web content channels.

  • Under 9 hours - median time from detection to enforcement request
  • Up to 10x - faster response than manual processes
  • Under 1 hour - review of threats covered by Smart Rules
  • 99.8% - detection accuracy for domain threats (based on 48,253 cases)
  • 86.3% - detection accuracy for phishing ad threats (based on 3,315 cases)

As Smart Rules cover more threats, overall response time keeps falling. In some environments, total response time is already under three hours.

Activity Log: every step of your response, recorded transparently

As important as responding fast is being able to see why each action was taken. Activity Log records what was detected, why it was judged an impersonation threat, when enforcement happened and what the outcome was.

Because everything is in one view, legal, brand and intellectual property (IP) teams can make decisions from the same information. No digging through emails or collecting screenshots: see at once what the AI found and why it took action.

Five new threat types

This update also expands what Marq AI detects automatically. The new types are:

  • Copyright infringement (artwork)
  • Right of publicity infringement
  • Unauthorized sales
  • Design infringement
  • Scams

You can now detect and act on a wider range of new threats that abuse your brand.

Act before your customers are affected

Fake sites keep multiplying. Fake ads are made faster than ever. What matters now isn’t finding them. It’s how fast you act once you have. Marq AI is built so you don’t have to chase fakes yourself: it finds and stops them before your customers are harmed. Brand impersonation response now has to move in hours, not days.

FAQ | What are Smart Rules and Activity Log?

Q. What are Smart Rules?

A feature that automates enforcement based on criteria your brand sets. Set conditions such as risk score, threat type and channel, and threats that meet them are acted on automatically.

Q. Which channels do they cover?

They currently cover domains, phishing ads and web content, in addition to the existing anti-counterfeit module.

Q. Won’t automated enforcement create false positives?

Marq AI provides a risk assessment and an analysis of the evidence together. Your brand sets the criteria and can change them at any time, so your team is always in control.

Q. Why do I need Activity Log?

It lets you see the full record: what was detected, why it was enforced, and when and with what result. Legal, IP and brand teams can make decisions from the same information.

Q. Can my team review or change automated enforcement?

Yes. Smart Rules only operate within the scope your team defines. You set the criteria, review lower-risk threats, and can turn off rules or change specific actions at any time.
