MarqVision is stepping up its detection of unauthorized sales to protect brand value.
AI company MarqVision (CEO Mark Lee) announced that it offers Price Monitoring, a service that detects the products and sellers that erode brand value online through indiscriminate discounting.
Most unauthorized sales come from unauthorized sellers who have no official permission from the brand to sell its products. Their tactics range from using a brand’s official product images without permission to slashing prices indiscriminately, which undercuts the brand’s fair price level and hurts its official sellers. If unauthorized sales persist, they can reduce a brand’s overall revenue and change how consumers perceive it over the long term.
With MarqVision’s Price Monitoring, companies can protect brand value and prevent or minimize the damage from falling prices. MarqVision uses AI to monitor misuse of official brand images across 1,500 marketplaces in 160 countries, along with products whose fair price level has been undercut by multiple unauthorized sellers. It also scans standalone websites, Korean and international e-commerce sites, and the major social media channels where group buying takes place, and delivers analysis based on the database it builds.
Delivered through the B2B SaaS platform Marq Commerce, Price Monitoring stands out for detailed detection centered on price, the core element of unauthorized sales. Companies using the service can read the market through the sellers offering their products online. They can find official sellers charging prices that differ from those agreed in their contracts, and see in real time whether unauthorized sellers are selling their products, which sellers hold large shares of sales, and how product prices are changing, so they can respond strategically to each seller and to market conditions.
“Products from unauthorized sellers that had misused the official brand images of our flagship brands Persil and Homemat were appearing at the very top of open marketplaces,” said a representative of Henkel, the global consumer and industrial goods company. “With Marq Commerce, which handles everything from detection to takedown requests in one place, we were able to respond quickly to activity that damaged our brand image and disrupted pricing.”
Beyond brand protection, the service also helps with marketing strategy. Using information such as the main marketplaces where unauthorized sellers operate, the products that perform well in the market and past selling prices, brands can see how market prices take shape online and gain insights for growing market share.
“Brand perception plays an important role in shaping consumers’ attitudes and behavior toward a brand, and inconsistent pricing across channels and indiscriminate market price disruption do significant long-term harm to brand image and revenue,” said MarqVision CEO Mark Lee. “As a strategic partner to brands, MarqVision will keep building an all-in-one IP operations service that removes every obstacle to global brand growth.”
