MarqVision upgrades Seller Intel, its in-depth e-commerce seller analysis system, to strengthen brand IP protection

Press release

  • Adds Seller History to Seller Intel, MarqVision’s in-depth analysis system for counterfeit sellers, to strengthen brand IP protection
  • Monitoring over time makes it possible to detect and take action effectively against counterfeit distribution and unauthorized sales by high-risk sellers
  • A timeline shows IP infringement data at a glance, including sellers’ past sales activity and their history of reports and enforcement
  • MarqVision plans to strengthen its marketplace partnerships and build a response system that cuts off high-risk sellers’ sales activity at the source

AI company MarqVision (CEO Mark Lee) announced that it has added Seller History, a feature that enables analysis by time period, to its in-depth seller analysis system Seller Intel, delivering a stronger brand IP protection solution.

Seller History is built into the Seller Intel system MarqVision introduced in 2022 and was developed to detect and take action against sellers’ counterfeit and unauthorized sales activity more effectively.

Seller Intel, available through MarqVision’s solution, analyzes counterfeit seller data in depth to uncover links between sellers who distribute fakes in an organized way. Rather than simply comparing seller data, it uses AI to calculate how similar the data is and groups sellers with similar attributes. Because it goes beyond enforcement against individual products to map the distribution networks of malicious and high-risk sellers, brands can respond to infringement more effectively.

The new Seller History feature lets users monitor seller activity over time. Previously, users could see only cumulative statistics for the entire period, such as total detections and total enforcement actions against counterfeit sellers. With the new feature, users can see on a single timeline the past sales activity of sellers suspected of infringing a brand’s intellectual property (IP), their history of reports and enforcement, and key details related to brand infringement.

As unauthorized sellers rapidly expand the scope of their counterfeit and unauthorized sales and become increasingly organized, it is becoming more important to identify high-risk sellers in greater depth using granular criteria, not just broad measures such as total cumulative sales.

With Seller History’s data by time period, brands can see in detail everything from sellers who sold large numbers of counterfeits during a specific period to sellers who have recently become active and are gaining market share. This lets them assess each seller’s risk and set enforcement priorities for a more systematic enforcement strategy. They can also quickly identify sellers who have infringed on the brand persistently and repeatedly over a long period, trace counterfeit distribution routes, and take further protective measures such as offline raids.
As part of consumer protection, most marketplaces include provisions in their operating policies such as suspending listings from sellers who repeatedly infringe brand IP. MarqVision plans to deepen its collaboration with partner marketplaces, including Alibaba, Temu and JD.com, to launch a service that cuts off high-risk sellers’ accounts and activity at the source. It also plans to use its seller cluster technology to build a service that identifies sellers operating in an organized way across multiple marketplaces and stops their brand infringement.

“As organized seller activity that not only erodes brand value but also causes real damage has expanded rapidly, we developed this new feature to help brands build more proactive and strategic brand protection,” said MarqVision CEO Mark Lee. “Working closely with brands and marketplaces, we will keep advancing MarqVision’s technology and services to build an all-in-one IP operations system that can stop brand infringement at its root.”
