AI company MarqVision (CEO Mark Lee) announced that it is running No More Fake, a campaign to stop the harm counterfeits cause brands and their customers.

According to the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), the spread of counterfeits has cost Korean companies close to KRW 7 trillion in lost sales at home and abroad. Beyond harming consumers, counterfeits erode corporate value and weaken Korea’s retail industry over the long term.

MarqVision is running No More Fake to stamp out the harm counterfeits do to companies and consumers and to support the sustainable growth of Korea’s retail ecosystem. Through the campaign, it aims to raise consumer awareness of counterfeits, prevent harm, and actively protect brands’ intellectual property (IP) and creators’ rights.

First, MarqVision is running a free customer reporting program to root out counterfeits. The program works through a Counterfeit Reporting Center page that MarqVision builds and provides for each brand. When consumers spot signs of counterfeits online, they enter the URL and any additional details on the page and submit them, and the report goes to the brand’s team. To make the page easy for consumers to use, it supports multiple languages, and MarqVision also provides a banner image that brands can post on their official websites to link to it.

Consumers can report without signing up, and can flag counterfeits sold on marketplaces, including Korean and international e-commerce sites, and on social media. Brands can also use the page to consolidate customer communication about counterfeits into a single channel and review reports more efficiently.

For brands that sign up for the campaign, MarqVision also provides IP protection consulting. Based on suspected counterfeits reported by customers, it will propose effective responses, including counterfeit detection and enforcement strategies using MarqVision’s proprietary AI. This will help brands spot counterfeits that damage their brand value early and give customers a safer shopping experience.

Existing MarqVision partners that use its solutions, including Carlyn, Soom Korea, Haksan Publishing and Smilegate, already use the customer reporting program. Brands that want to take part can fill out and submit an application on the No More Fake campaign’s official website.

“The harm from counterfeits goes beyond lost sales and a damaged brand image. It threatens consumer safety and fuels global problems such as labor exploitation,” said MarqVision CEO Mark Lee. “I hope this campaign helps break that vicious cycle, encourages brands and consumers to work together toward a healthy retail ecosystem, and leads to systems that stamp out counterfeits.”

MarqVision uses AI to detect and take action against counterfeits and signs of unauthorized sales across 1,500 marketplaces in 180 countries, as well as illegal content online. It recently launched an impersonation protection service that detects and removes posts and websites impersonating celebrities, companies and institutions, rounding out a full range of services for protecting IP and increasing its value.
