As counterfeits and unauthorized sales become a more serious problem for companies, MarqVision's brand protection platform, Marq Commerce, is drawing attention as the fix.
AI company MarqVision (CEO Mark Lee) announced that its analysis of Marq Commerce's 2023 full-year data shows the number of counterfeits and unauthorized sales it caught last year grew 2.3 times in a single year.
Through Marq Commerce, MarqVision detected and analyzed some 320 million data points over the year, of which more than 4.33 million were confirmed as counterfeits, unauthorized sales, resales and the like. Detections on social media channels such as Instagram, Facebook and Twitter rose by about 77%. By country, more than $2.7 billion worth of counterfeit and unauthorized listings were removed in Korea alone in a year, and MarqVision carried out detection and enforcement across Asia and Southeast Asia, including China, Japan, India and the Philippines.
Behind the sharp one-year rise in Marq Commerce's detections are more advanced AI analytics and a wider scope. Since last year, MarqVision has extended detection beyond counterfeits to image theft, reselling and parallel imports, and provides that data to clients. Clients can now pull up just the information they need on the dashboard and quickly build a response strategy.
MarqVision currently monitors some 1,500 e-commerce platforms, social media channels and standalone websites worldwide, and investigates down to the seller level, not just individual product lines, to find malicious sellers. Built on ultra-precise product detection, Seller Intel Lab identifies similar sellers from seller account information, giving clients meaningful, in-depth intelligence on counterfeit sellers. This year, MarqVision plans to keep strengthening its technology to deliver the sophisticated SaaS environment enterprises need.
Key customers include three brands of the LVMH group, as well as Gentle Monster, CASETiFY, MSCHF, Naver Webtoon and Pokémon Korea.
“Counterfeits sold through online channels directly hurt not only a brand's image but a company's revenue, so it is important to identify and take action against illegal distribution quickly and accurately,” said Mark Lee, CEO of MarqVision. “We will keep developing MarqVision's distinctive AI technology to provide the services each brand needs to protect its products and IP, and be a partner that helps brands of every kind grow.”
MarqVision is also leading the way in protecting IP-based works through Marq Content, the world's only AI-based platform that automatically blocks pirated content. Using its own image recognition and text analysis technology, it actively stopped the spread of illegal copies, detecting and removing more than 32 million pieces of illegal content last year alone.
